So my bf is stuck in 4wd but it shows its in 2wd and I can't get the display to show 4wd. I took the actuator off and this is what I saw.. what do I need to do?
Also is it fine if I just leave it in 4wd all the time bc I don't have the money right now if it is expensive.

all I can help with is your second question, is it fine to leave it in 4x4? Yes. All that'll happen is you'll use more gas and wear on the tires will increase a little bit.

The collar is shot...and that also means the shifter grove must also be warn so both needs replaced. You can buy all the parts seperate so you wouldn't have to buy an actuator. You should also buy the coupling as well and of course new seals. Not all that expensive...but I'm not in your shoes. You can leave it in 4wd but it is hard on it...it's not all wheel drive afterall...stay off of hard pack and pavement..and without the collar installed the shifter will work its way out of the coupling in short order.
