Recently snorkeled went and tested, got to carbs in water and the first time I went through it cut out really bad and the second time it actually shut off under water I’m wondering what all vents there are and if it’s just the cold water, runs fine after I get out of water. but I see people do it in cold water all the time lol, thanks

There is an atmospheric vent from each that connects to a white plastic piece in front of the air box with a hole in it. That hole needs to be tapped-up and the single line that come off it needs to be run up one snorkel side. Here is a pic of mine tapped up.

My dad snorkeled it 12 years ago and then took them off lol I just re snorkeled it, those were missing so that’s why I asked.

If I recall they are here circled in red. They MUST be able to have access to open air and not just capped.

Okay, I ran those so it must be somthing else, what are 4 holes on the bottom of the bowls for, only 2 of mine have hoses on them.

The two with hoses are the bowl overflows. The other two are bowl drains.

Check the carb boots at or under the head-side clamp for splits. Common problem.

Okay so 2 are sealed, are the drains on one side and overflows on other or opposite because the carbs are facing opposite directions. If that makes any sense.

The overflows most be able to vent, they do down to a round canister just about the skid plate. The drains drain gas from the bowls when you open the screws which they are next to.

I still have that canister hooked up, is it a one way check valve and or is it waterproof as long as it’s facing down?

I used to think it was a little check..and it may be but as long it it is on the right way no one has any problems.

Okay, turns out hoses were on the nipples with the screws, gas comes out of those when the carb is flipped on it’s side…

Is that very small hole for vacuum?

Or can I run the carb vents to it, I know what occupies that hole because there was nothing there, that explains the cutting out….

No. That's the air box right? So the big open one is the crank case vent, that little one is an oil collector tube that supposed to have a long tube with a plug on the end, and that other big one, the one that has the hose on now next to the collector is for the duckbill. That's a water escape. Do you need a service manual? It would answer all these questions. Here's what that looks like:

You answered all of my questions lol, I have a drain where the duckbill used to be so I’ll plug the small hole thanks a lot, I know I ask a lot of questions.
