I've been throwing the idea of replacing my cable with synthetic rope in the winch.

So I noticed that synthetic rope on some of the kits have a different fairlead besides the roller type.....Then I noticed the Warn Synthetic kit comes with the same fairlead as a regualar steel cable. What gives?

I have read that synethics need a special fairlead, but Warn (Winch-Subject Matter Experts) sell the same roller fairleads with their kit.

Makes me scratch my head.

Anyone else using roller fairleads?

Im not using a roller fairlead but you can use a roller fairlead with it but it could get caught in the rollers and mess the rope up, thats why most have the hawse fairlead
I dont think I would take the chance with rollers for the cost of the rope but warn may have set up to not have problems, rollers closer together ?!?!

i have the aluminum hawse fairlead on mine. no problemos.
The rationale is that the roller fairlead can pinch and get caught an an angle in the corner.
