They are the wires that come directly off the back of the fan. The 08's dont have that sensor on the left side of the radiator (at least I haven't found it) I used the same splice and ran it to the switch. Then came from the switch to a ground. (I used the battery). The fan hot wire is always hot. You just need to complete the ground to make it come on. (I don't know where to get the connectors, I just had some already) So no help with that.
If it has a light on the switch it probably has 3 post on the back. If so the extra post is for a hot. Then you would need to run a hot wire to the extra post for the light. If not it probably won't work if not since it's just acting as a ground. Anyone else, does this sound right?
The wire that is coming off the fan is a ground. That goes to the switch, then from the other prong on the switch it goes to the place you have it grounded. So neither are hot. You would probably need to run a hot wire to the 3rd prong that powers the light. It should tell you which one that is on back of the switch or the box it came in.
I've delt with those kind of splices before on trailer wire hook ups. They are quick and easy and do just exactly what they are designed for. The problem is they aren't designed for longevity. Over time, water and mud WILL get in there and have an effect on the connection. I know it's alot more trouble but IMO, soldier and heat shrink is the only way to go.
i have the hot wire hooked to where it says hot, the wire from the fan in the middle and the ground on the copper tab (top).
did i do something wrong to not make the light on the switch work? i was going to switch the middle and the upper ones tonight and see if it works. put the ground on the middle tab...
No, the ground on that switch is for the light on the switch. It will function without being grounded but the little led wont work. Just leave the other two wires as is if they are working and ground the other post and your fan should work along with the led.
First I used a T-splice to tap into the orange wire that runs into the Acc. plug. Then I ran a wire from the splice to the power prong of the switch.
Next I used a T-splice to tap into the blue wire coming from the back of the fan. I then ran a wire from the splice to the load prong of the switch.
Third I ran a ground wire from the ground on battery to the earth prong of the switch. The light and everything worked fine and fan came on as it should.
I did all this and everything worked fine....until I drilled the hole for the toggle switch and mounted it. Have checked all fuses and everything and cannot figure this out...
do yall know if u can reverse the fan direction to blow away from ur face
