I have a 07 brute force 650 I hit a mud hole awhile back and it didn’t die in the hole after I got it out when I stopped and let off the gas is when it died and couldn’t get it to crank back up no water in oil and it only cranked 2 times for a few seconds each anoit 40 minutes after and I let it sit for a while and went and replaced the coils and plugs today bc it wasn’t firing on one cylinder and shot some starting fluid and still nothing I checked gas for water and it seemed okay and took the carbs off and cleaned them really good and put everything back togather and still nothing. Anything helps

650 SRA or IRS?
How deep what this hole? Could water have gotten in the intake and down one of the carbs? If so you may have some real problems now. Take a compression test and leak-down test on that bad cylinder. May have some stick valves or rings.

It was about to the racks and yeah it’s possible it could have got down the front intake boot and both cylinders are firing now and do you think if there is something wrong with the leak down or compression it should still crank if I use starting fluid to try to crank it
I think if it takes starting fluid to start it...there is something wrong.
The front intake boot is busted so it was already taking a minute to crank before the mud hole and now I took it off and just taped it to see if I could even get it running before I spent all kind of money on stupid stuff and wasn’t even none of that if that makes sense

you got a couple issues, one i'm betting it's been a while since you tuned up your carb, need to redo your F/A mix screws and from the mudding, clean the whole engine off.

done this with my 08 a bunch of times, clean your engine off, with a power washer and general purpose soap, make sure to adjust the pressure down to about half or so after getting it soapy; let it site for a few minutes then rinse it off good, especially on and around the F/A screws themselves; they NEED to be clean and clear.
in the future, after this, if you can run the engine and get it nice and warm (not overheated) before washing it, the steam from the water will help break up dirt/mud build up on the engine case.

then get your screwdrivers out and get set to redo the F/A mix adjustments as if your doing a tune up; take off the intake head so your down to the carb and make sure thats all clean(-ish) and not gunked up, including the jets themselves.

hand crank with the pull start slowly to make sure its not hydrolocked or just drowned and that you hear the hissing of the pistons compressing on both strokes (to make sure they are getting compression)

if that is all good then get it started and get the F/A mix set so that it stays running, after that get some cans of seafoam and a spritzer bottle, spray slowly into the carb while running till it starts to chug a bit then spray liberally until it outright stalls.
pour a little in both carbs after that (maybe an ounce each barrel)

let it sit and cool for a good 15-20 mins and then choke it, set idle to max and start it up; the seafoam will have dried and bonded to any contaminants and once it starts just hold it WOT and it will begin to smoke pure white smoke out of the muffler for maybe a couple minutes; hold it WOT until there is no more smoke coming out of the tailpipe and then it go back to idle and re-adjust idle screw back down to about 6-12 revs per second (if by ear, around 9 or 10 if you don't have a tune on it; have custom curves on mine so it stays steady and running at about 6 or 7 per second) and then redo your F/A screw adjustments.

after that it should run pretty much spot on as long as your intake and filter is good and not starving it.

it should also have a much easier time starting and at power take offs since now it is running where it should mix wise.

if it is still hard to start but will at least stay running, then you may need to up your jet sizes by 1 notch.
