I used an epoxy coat (rustoleum, I think) on my garage floor about 10 years ago. It performed and looked great for several years. Most of it still looks good but it did "hot lift" where I parked my Jeep. My suggestion is that you buy the best industrial grade that you can afford.

Acid wash floor till it opens up. U can tell if it opened up by putting water on it and if it drys up quick u r good. Most products will work fine if u prep floor right(acid wash or grind if it has been painted or sealed). The best floor in my opinion is a quartz. 1st coat epoxy then broadcast quartz while its wet. Then put a urethane clear on top. Expensive but badass. You can always just two coat with epoxy but it will be slick when wet.

Shouldn't affect your heat output at all....If you have good insulation under the slab, the heat has to rise up and out of the floor, regardless of being epoxied or painted.
