*2011 Teryx LE (Camo)
*4000# Viper Max, w/ Syn. Rope, Alm. Fairlead, Dash rocker switch, & Remote.
Step 1:
*Remove plastic bumper cover by taking out the 4 screws holding it on, one on each side, and 2 underneath.
*Remove front bumper, 4 bolts, 2 on each side.
*Remove seat, and the metal cover above/beside the battery.
*Remove drive shaft tunnel.
*Remove Plastic dash cover under the hood.
Step 2:
Get your winch mounted onto the plate, do not mount the fairlead bracket yet, as I have, the bolts go through the front bumper brace to install properly. Getting the winch on the plate is pretty easy, but getting the plate mounted to the frame isnt as easy. I used duct tape to hold the carriage bolts in place while setting the winch/mounting plate onto the factory plate. It still didnt make it an easy job but it helped keep them in there, and I eventually got them all lined up and dropped in place w/o them popping out.
Step 3:
Next install your switch. I have the dash rocker switch, its very nice and looks clean. I also installed the plug for the remote that came with it. I used the factory accessory spot by the key to install the plug, just cut inside the little round grove (used a rzr knife) and install the plug. I installed the rocker just below that, there wasnt a template in my box, so I had to just cut a little and try, trim a little and try until the switch fit in the hole.
Step 4:
Run your wires from the battery, up to the front. I opted to mount my solenoid on the back of the dash instead of under the seat, to help keep it clean and dry. To do this you will need to reverse the wires, blue to black (ground), yellow to red (hot) on the solenoid. Make sure to double check this and get it right! Also, it's important that you do not hook the wires to the battery until the very last step. I ran them through the tunnel, like so, and ziptied them to the coolant line:
Step 5:
Mount your solenoid on the black dash cover. You'll have to drill 2 holes to mount it. Also, drill you a big hole to pull your switch wires through.
Before you put the cover back on, now is a good time to tie your access. wire from the switch into something that is hot when the key is on. Since that 12v access. plug is right there in the dash, I just tied mine into that. It's the brownish colored wire. Piece of Cake.
Now pull your switch wires through the hole (bundle and ziptie any access behind the dash before installing the cover) and reinstall the cover.
Step 6:
Get all of that hooked up. Remember we switched the wires... so blue goes to the black post (ground) on the solenoid, and yellow to red post (hot). Go ahead and get your red/black wires hooked up as well, I went black to blue (since they both start with "B") and red to yellow on the solenoid.
If you arent using the remote, just plug the wires from the switch into the wires on the solenoid and you're good to go. If you are, you will need to plug the remote in first, then the rocker switch into the pigtails on the remote side. Might sound confusing but if you are using it you will see...
Step 7:
I ziptied up the blue/yellow best I could. I know it doesnt look like a great job but, It was hot as .... in my garage and I was just trying to get them tied up out of the way.
Route your red/black wires down to the winch and hook them up. REMEMBER black goes to blue, red goes to yellow posts on the winch...
Step 8:
Reinstall bumper and cover. After you've got the bumper back on, slide the fairlead bracket down behind the bumper brace, in between it and the winch mount plate, and install the bolts through from the front side of the bumper brace and bolt it all down. Then you can run your cable through the fairlead and put your hook on. (Sorry I dont have a pic of the fiarlead bracket install).
Reinstall your tunnel, dont forget any of the rivets! And the cover plate under the seat.
Now, you are ready to hook the wires to the battery. Again, REMEMBER Blue to Black (GROUND), Yellow to Red (HOT).
Put your seat back on, cut the key on, and give her a try!!!
Don't forget to go back and put something on those posts & connections. I'm going to rub a little di-electric grease on mine, and I've been thinging about spraying a little plasti dip over it too... to keep water/dirt/mud off them. Should help prevent corrosion as well.
